Character
Programs
Helping youth become
responsible caring citizens and acquire skills for participating
in the democratic process is the main thrust of these programs.
They also develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for
planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community, and
celebrating our national heritage.
Keystone Club is a group
program for Boys & Girls Club members 14 to 18 years of age.
Keystone Clubs are designed to help teen members become more productive
citizens and leaders.
Each Keystone Club consists
of an adult advisor and 8 to 15 members who elect their own officers
and plan and implement their own activities.
Torch Club
Torch Club is a small group of Club members, ages 11 – 13, who engage in programs and activities agreed upon, developed and implemented by the members themselves. Groups typically involve between six and 15 young people, and have as a primary focus the development of character and leadership skills of group members. Each Torch Club is chartered annually through application to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) National Headquarters office. New members are always welcomed.
Youth for Unity
As our nation becomes increasingly diverse, young people need the knowledge and skills to thrive in a globally connected society and world. Youth for Unity is a program meant to engage members and parents in activities designed to promote diversity and combat prejudice, bigotry and decimation. Youth for Unity aims to help Club members appreciate themselves as unique and special individuals; understand our society’s diversity; recognize bias and unfairness; and take personal leadership in confronting bias.
